Origination

Q Capital has an extensive and growing network of individuals, agents, brokers, financial planners, and other advisors to source life insurance policies that are available for sale. We purchase individual life insurance policies and pools of life insurance policies. Each life insurance policy is different and requires a thorough review to enable a full understanding of its attributes and value. Q Capital has developed a proprietary method for analyzing and pricing life insurance policies. We are experts at premium optimization and have a library of most life insurance policy types (from our many years of experience in the market) to assist in our underwriting. Each policy is reviewed by a company underwriter and combined with a medical analysis to determine an appropriate acquisition price.

Underwriting

We believe that proper underwriting requires three distinct procedures: policy analysis, actuarial analysis and medical analysis. Policy analysis requires industry expertise and familiarity with life insurance policy forms – nuances in particular policy types, insurance company presentation, premium optimization, and “shadow” pricing – all come into play in order to accurately determine policy value. On the actuarial front, we can utilize any actuarial tables that meets our partner’s needs, whether that is a standard table published by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or a proprietary actuarial tables. For medical analysis, Q Capital relies on the nationally recognized life expectancy firms and also has an outside consulting firm with two medical underwriters who can evaluate cases.

Asset Management

Q Capital assists investors in life insurance policies with the administrative and asset management duties needed after the acquisition of a life insurance policy. This comprehensive service includes net asset value calculations and policy mark-to-market, premium payment remittance and verification, premium optimization, updating policy and medical information, life tracking, and policy collections. We can also assist with managing other vendors that provide services that we do not offer.

We are a very active buyer in the Life Settlements industry and work with many different providers. Q Capital is definitely at the top of list when it comes to customer service, professionalism and ease to work with. Their staff have great knowledge and their President, Steven Shapiro, is one of the major faces of the Life Settlements industry. I would strongly recommend Q Capital to anyone looking for a licensed provider to help them with their needs.
