President and CEO
Mr. Shapiro is the founder of Q Capital. Previously, Mr. Shapiro was the President of MARK Partners LLC, a merchant banking boutique he founded in 2001. Mr. Shapiro has extensive experience in strategic consulting, investment banking advisory services, and private equity investing. Mr. Shapiro has held positions with several private equity and investment banking partnerships, including The Blackstone Group, LP and Centre Partners Management LLC. Mr. Shapiro holds a B.A. degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in finance and entrepreneurial management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Steven is also the current Chair of LISA, the Life Insurance Settlement Association, the oldest and largest trade organization in the life settlement industry.
Before joining Q Capital in June 2004, Mr. Shapiro was a Senior Vice President with MacAndrews & Forbes Inc., a private holding company. Beginning in 1994, Mr. Shapiro held positions as Chief Administrative Officer of each of Revlon, Inc., and Sunbeam Corporation, and general Counsel of each of the Coleman Company, Inc. and Marvel Entertainment, Inc. He was an Executive Vice President of each of the aforementioned public companies. Prior thereto, Mr. Shapiro practiced corporate and securities law as managing shareholder of the Palm Beach County office of Greenberg Traurig LLP (which acquired Shapiro and Bregman, a firm he co-founded) and was a partner in Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen. Mr. Shapiro was a founder and Co-Director of the Institute for Paralegal Training, the first school created for the training of legal assistants. Mr. Shapiro holds a B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Mr. Shapiro serves on the Board of Directors and is Chairman of the Audit Committee of Toll Brothers, Inc. (NYSE) and is member of the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Esq., Vice President – General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Ms. Canoff joined Q Capital in 2013. She also serves as General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer for Life Settlement Solutions LLC, a position she has held since 2003, and joined Q Capital Strategies, LLC when Life Settlement Solutions was acquired by Q Capital Holdings LLC. Prior to joining Life Settlement Solutions, she was head of the legal department of Nielsen Dillingham Builders, Inc. She was previously a partner in the law firms of Hyde and Canoff and Dorazio Barnhorst & Bonar in San Diego, and was resident managing partner of the San Diego office of Markowitz & Herbold.
Vice President – Finance
Mr. Feldman is the former Managing Partner of the West Palm Beach office of Arthur Andersen LLP. His prior experience includes all aspects of financial management, strategic planning, equity and debt offerings, long-range planning, and SEC and other financial reporting. Prior to joining Arthur Andersen, Mr. Feldman was the Regional Managing Partner of the Southeast Region of Laventhol & Horwath, responsible for the operations of several offices in the southeast United States and Puerto Rico. Mr. Feldman served two three-year terms as a member of the firm’s governing body. After retiring from the Public Accounting profession, Mr. Feldman spent three years as a Financial Advisor with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. and Raymond James & Associates, handling a wide range of services for individuals, trusts, and small institutional clients. Mr. Feldman’s most recent experience was the Chief Financial Officer of a large non-profit entity. Mr. Feldman holds a B.S. degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University Pennsylvania.
Director – Business Development and Operations
Mr. Blankenship joined Q Capital in 2006. Mr. Blankenship held several positions within Q Capital prior to leading the business development efforts and operations. Mr. Blankenship supervised both Q Capital’s Central Processing and Underwriting Departments and assists in numerous Servicing and IT projects. Since moving into the Business Development and Operations role, Mr. Blankenship has focused primarily on expansion of customer relationships and streamlining the Q Capital’s business operations. Mr. Blankenship graduated with a B.A. from the University of Kansas.
Director – Information Systems
Mr. Esquivel has over 20 years of engineering and information technology experience including all aspects of technical design and implementation of enterprise grade information systems. After several years in the field of civil engineering, he successfully practiced as a business technology consultant both internationally and domestically. Mr. Esquivel’s most recent consulting role before joining Q Capital was in leading the team that revamped several areas of the Burger King Corporation’s supply chain management system. Mr. Esquivel holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Regis University in Denver, Colorado; as well as independent studies in Computer Science and Civil Engineering.
Mr. Patel joined Q Capital in November 2020. Mr. Patel has over 10 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting primarily in the alternative asset industry. Mr. Patel started his career as an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers, conducting several hedge and private equity financial audits. In 2013, Mr. Patel joined Frankel Loughran Starr and Vallone LLP as a fund accountant primarily working on the Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Funds. Most recently, Mr. Patel served as a Financial Controller at Bergen Asset Management LLC, overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions.
